27 Sep CO-OP Live: Construction providing Optimism in Greater Manchester
It was announced last week that there will be a new multi purpose indoor arena to be built on land adjacent to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium. The work on site could commence within weeks providing hundreds of new employment opportunities in the area.
The new arena will become the largest in the UK and one of the largest in Europe. The current largest arena in the UK is the Manchester arena with a capacity of 21000 whereas the new Co-op live venue will be a capacity of 23,500.
As expected there were reservations from the Manchester Arena about the new state of the art arena, although there are many major cities across the UK and Europe with dual indoor arenas. When we are all allowed back into watch our favourite bands, singers and sporting stars, this new arena will have provided 3500 construction jobs and 1000 roles and apprenticeships upon completion.
The Co-Op have gone into partnership with the developers Oak View Group to open the state of the art venue to rival the O2. They will be providing Pop up Co Ops within the arena and Co-Op food, also they will offer benefits for members of the Co-op and provide sustainable and green development for the local area.
This will further extend Manchester’s nightlife and entertainment scene as one of the best in Europe.
